Good Stewardship: Its Rewards

Whether that something be intangible or tangible, once it has been entrusted to us to care for, we need to ensure that they are not lost, destroyed or maligned in any way because the one who has entrusted these favors or things to us will one day ask us how we have gone about being good stewards to what have been entrusted to our care. Parenting is a form of stewardship. The children borne of us are not ours --- not our possession.  They are entrusted to us by the Supreme Father to raise in such a way that when they grow up, they will glorify their Creator.  Discipline is a necessary part of stewardship where parenting is concerned because the Bible states to "T rain up a child in the way he should go, a nd when he is old he will not depart from it. (Proverbs 22:6). Good parenting is rewarding...

Lord, Do I Bury or Multiply My Talents?

Image
https://media.freebibleimages.org/stories/FB_LS_Parable_Talents/overview-images/003-ls-parable-talents.jpg?1538662578 Each one of us is gifted.  That is a fact. Long before we were born, God implanted in us an inherent ability - skill - talent that is ours and ours alone. I do not get sold to people saying, "I do not have any talent" referring to dancing or singing or drawing because God, in all His profound wisdom, made sure that we all are given our share of talents, skills and abilities because through these, we are able to go go about our roles as humans --- to fulfill our ministry in this world. Some people are good dancers. Very good in fact, that every time they move their bodies, they captivate their audience as their unified movements tell stories and permeate with raw emotions.  No words are needed when dancers sway and move their hands and hips because all that is necessary is movement. That is talent. While everyone can move to the beat, not everyone are...

Be Gentle With Yourself, Self

Image
Perhaps, I should be the very first person to say, "Be gentle with yourself, self." Right now, my heart seems to heave in turmoil and upheaval. I try to keep a pacified front, but my heart --- this poor heart of mine is in so much fuss --- for reasons I would much rather keep to myself. I really sought for this quote on the web: In all honesty, I try to keep peace in my soul, but when I look around me and see chaos, I can not help but be affected.  I can't keep myself from getting into a sort of  involvement - more so when the the disorder is right within your family circle.  To be honest, I am very much affected with my husband's unemployed status.  While his service has been indispensable around the home, it pains me to think that my meager take home pay can not provide for all the family needs.  If my mother did not send us a monthly allowance to cover for the electricity bill, we would have had no electricity by now.  I tried my hand at...

The Power In Quietness

In the fast-paced life of us, humans, where we hurry and scurry to accomplish that which we are tasked to do, quietness has lost its power. Even in the silence around us; even in the faux pax of solitude, deep inside each of us is a turmoil that can not be silenced. The human heart is deafened by a lot of voices coming from all directions; each of the distinctive sounds seeking to drown each other.  The heart gets disoriented - confused.  The heart no longer knows what to do; what to choose, where to go. With each of us chasing lofty dreams which are seemingly so distant, we sometimes get lost in the noise around us.  Instead of us focusing our gaze on our goals, we turn around to pat at...

Is Oneness Still Possible in This Digital World?

Image
https://i1.wp.com/www.nadinehead.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/square-celestial-couple.jpg Let's face it; everyone faces the dilemma of staying tightly connected with his closest neighbors, families and friends and being left all alone with his gadgets.  Everywhere, we see people being with people and yet they do not talk with each other.  They are together, yes, but their togetherness is just physical --- the best part of connecting with another human being has been lost - gone - eaten up by our "want" to be virtually connected all the time. Families sit at the table during meals and yet they do not connect emotionally and spiritually; their physical proximity is but a realistic antonym to their emotional distance towards each other. They dive their silverware into their heaped-up plates, sometimes in silence, their minds wandering towards notifications on FB, views at You Tube, private or secret messages on various IM apps and other physical connection...
